Hey there!
K.. in conjuction with the topic for for GP, I spent sometime reading articles on Singlish. Apart from that, I also took the time to learn more of it. LOL
So, here's what I think of Singlish.
To me, it is a unique way of understanding others. It is also a way for us heartlanders not to make ourselves look too extravagant or proud. It also give us a better sense of friendship with fellow mates. Apart from it, it's a different way to emphasize on something or to say bad things without really offending someone. For example, instead of saying, "He is so stupid." We sometimes say, "He is so sotong.." Though, of course, I don't think it's meant to be used in more formal occasions. Such as signing a business deal or writing resumes..
